It's tied up into the overall Sony corporation economics and whether or not they have the ability and wherewithal to do that in the games business depending on the performance of their other businesses. From a hardware cost perspective that would be extremely painful for them because there's no question that the PlayStation 3 is a very expensive piece of consumer electronics because of the choices that they've made with Blu-ray and Cell and so forth. I've little doubt this game would sell very well on the 360, with a userbase of over 10million, it would seem illogical for Square not to release it.
But Final Fantasy is symbolic to the PlayStation brand and I doubt Sony would ever let it pass through it's fingers. For the sake of the PS3 - it musn't ever.
There are more Wii owners than PS3 owners. So the amount of transaction happening in terms of software, is still lower when you comapre it to the Wii and the 360 which had an attach rate of an average of 5 games per console.
I'm not boasting, and even though I'm not impressed with these figures, I still think it's progression considering the fact there arent many good games on the PS3 imo
Go to any gaming store and ask them how many of their allocation of they got on pre-order.
The "wanting" may have gone overboard, but the actual "yea im thinking of getting it/im gonna get it" has froze in the cold sea.

Oh people want the console, I want the console myself. But few, including me, are actually considering purchasing it now. I went into HMV, Game, Blockbusters (searching for a job) and I asked them about the PS3 - they said it's "understandbly not selling that hot, but it's still a PlayStation".
Meaning later on, it will sell but the price is not convincing anyone, especially as the games on it are not justifying a pricetag of £500.

2. That's assuming I even want a Wii - which I do not. I'd rather buy a packet of chewing gum actually.

That's assuming the 360 doesn't work with a HDTV. And dont tell me your on about that 1080p resolution, does it look like I can afford a £1500 television plus a £500 games console?

Why don't they charge less for current XBLA titles and with the larger titles, charge as the same as we are paying now e.g. no more than 800 points
70% of these titles will probaly be Arcade games for the PS3.
